'Hooiland' Field Research, De Doort, Echt
De Doort consists of grasslands that are managed as hay meadows by the owner Staatsbosbeheer. This means that mowing and haying are done in order to impoverish the field. In this way the glossy oat grasslands were created. In the field, an old management form is clearly visible in the form of parallel strips. It is the ditches or so-called rebates that had to make these swampy areas suitable for use. We also come across this management form a lot in the forest area of De Doort.
